Life through my eyes

Our Obsession

Our Obsession

Portrayed

As a harmless procedure

To boost self confidence

Our obsession

Speaks to our children

Saying

I know you despise the way you look

And I can help you fix that

Our obsession

Shows a weakness greater than one can imagine

It would show more strength

To stand up in defense if we are called “fat”

It would show more strength

To take pride in the way we looked

Not allow the insecurities or others

 to influence our behavior

It would show more strength

To judge people by their actions

Rather than their body type

Our obsession

Should not, and cannot be used in the way it is currently

But the abuse of it will continue

And the human race will continue to judge and exclude

Because of appearances

 Our obsession?

Imani, this poem is absolutely amazing. Amazing. The last line is PERFECT. I love it, you did a FANTASTIC job on this. I could tell that you used your cosmetic surgery paper as the original paper, but the style was so new and so interesting, and the way you worded this was so great. Awesome Job. =]

You friends are right, I. Strong lines that convey powerful thoughts and images. Will you come work with me so we can think about getting this published?
