Child Abuse

Julia was three years old.
She watched her father kill her mother.
She watched him kill himself.

Julia was found sleeping between her two parents,
both dead.

Julia is only one
One of three million maltreated children each year
Each with a different story.

Some Beaten.
Some Raped.
Some with addicted parents who couldn’t feed them.

Some can’t tell their story.
In 2006, 1,530 children were killed in the U.S.
due to abuse or neglect.

What is the goal of these parents?
Could anyone wish this upon their child?
Did Julia’s father know how she would be affected-
later in life?

It is difficult to comprehend-
Why.

People who have been abused
are more likely to abuse
later in life.

It is proven.
Child abuse lasts
longer than a bruise.

You did a fine job of picking out the powerful words and images MG. And perfect place for the last line, too.
